Weekly News September 15, 2023
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The staff of Mount View School are extending a huge “Thank You” to Ms. Danielle in our learning commons for her incredible Spiderman display that displays one of our core values: Responsibility. Her creativity and care for keeping these boards alive with educational content cannot be beat!
Informational Items:
Please do not drop students off on school grounds prior to 8:15 a.m. Our school staff are outside to supervise beginning at 8:15 a.m. and dropping students off before then is unsafe as we do not have supervision before this time.
Demographic and Consent Forms:
Please complete these annual forms online, through your MyCBE/Powerschool account, opening the SchoolEngage app for the forms. Current contact information and consent helps us stay connected with you and keep your child safe. If you don’t have an account yet, please consider creating one, it is an extremely useful tool for many school-related activities. Thank you for your help.
Volunteering at school and for Field Trips:
We always appreciate parents taking time to volunteer their time for school activities and are grateful for the parent community for strengthening the connections with the school. If you are interested in volunteering, please register with the school by filling the Annual Volunteer Registration Form. Please connect with Ms. Gabriela for further information regarding the process via email: galaszlo@cbe.ab.ca.
During the school year, students might also take part in activities outside of the school grounds, within walking distance. For details about these field trips, please see the Walking Distance Trips Annual Letter on the Mount View School Off-Site Activities page.
Meet the Teacher:
On October 19 & 20 we will be offering meet the teacher and student conferencing. Conference Manager will open for bookings near the end of September or early October. Teachers will connect with you to organize time to meet prior to this regarding students on IPP, at their discretion.
Please know that you are always welcome to connect with teacher and setup a meeting as needed and not wait for the formal conference time. We do believe that parents are key stakeholder in student learning and would always be there to support you with your child ‘s learning journey at MVS.
Terry Fox Run 2023:
Mount View School is proud to take part in this year’s Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope. Our run this year will take place on Thursday , September 21st. (Alternate/weather day Tuesday, September 26th)
This year we will be running at Munro Park. We will be running for Terry and the fight against cancer from approximately 10:40 to 11:15am. Parent or family member are welcome to join us for the run.
We want to continue the legacy of supporting the run and honour the values Terry Fox has instilled in so many. Please support the students in reaching their running goals by ensuring they have their running shoes, water bottles and a healthy snack packed for that day. Please help show your support by donating to https://schools.terryfox.ca/31034 :or using the pledge forms that will be sent home on Monday. Our fundraising efforts will continue for the month of September. Thank you for your supporting our school in the fight against cancer and continuing Terry’s legacy! Volunteers - We are looking for some volunteers to support our youngest students for the Terry Fox Run. If you are interested in running/walking with kindergarten or grade one students please email Ms. Burger hmburger@cbe.ab.ca
