Dear Parents/Guardians,
This week at MVS we hoped to go to Nose Hill for our Learning on the Land field trip. However, the weather was not in our favour. As we had planned to do sit spots and to sit on the grass and listen while Knowledge Keepers shared the story of the importance of Nose Hill and the Medicine Wheel, we had to change our plans. We did not want to ruin the experience for the students by being wet and uncomfortable.
We had 2 Knowledge Keepers, Kyle Snow and Gina One Spot, join us
here at the school instead! They taught students
about traditional medicines, important plants and assisted students in learning
their own war cry! Although our plan had to shift, it was an incredible
experience.
Informational Items:
Mount View School Garden
As the weather warms, classrooms have started a variety of seeds
that will be planted out in a few weeks. We are also hoping to fill some of our
garden with perennials to add some colour and interest to our wonderful
community garden. If you have any non-invasive perennials you would like to
donate, please reach out to Emily (emthompson@cbe.ab.ca) to arrange for drop off! Many thanks for helping our little
community garden bloom!
Health and Wellness Day: Volunteers Needed
May 30th 1:40-3pm
(volunteers needed 1:20-3:10pm)
Activity Day is Back!! Staff will be organizing
stations and FITSET NINJA course will be part of the
afternoon stations. We would like to have one or two parent volunteers (no volunteer clearance needed)
at each station. This event has been a huge success in previous years thanks to
the support of volunteers that help out on the day. You can sign up for your

FITSET NINJA will be an opportunity for all
students during the day on May 30th. Every class will
have 30 min with the FITSET NINJA course including Kindergarten. The afternoon
activity day time will allow some students the opportunity to attempt the
course again.
Kindergarten students may return for the event
with parent or guardian supervision Thank-you!!
