Weekly News December 8, 2023
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our Winter Dance Festival. We all had an amazing experience working alongside Kes and learning new sweet hip hop moves! We hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did!

Informational Items:
Sponsored Families
Thank you to those of you have already donated to our families that we are sponsoring over the holidays as we recognize that this is a challenging time of the year. There is a list of items that we are still hoping for. Thank you for donating, if your family is able.
When donating items, we are asking the following:
-indicate if it is for Family A, B, C or D
-indicate which member of the family it is for ex: "10y/o M" -deliver gifts unwrapped
-for the wish list, please see your Weekly Message emails or contact the school
Gifts must arrive at the school by Dec. 18, 2023 (email Allyson if an extension is required: alheggie@cbe.ab.ca)
Please donate as you can and know how much you are appreciated. Thank you, MVS, for continually showing support and care for others.
Dressing for the Weather
MVS students are fortunate to go outside every day for recess and over the lunch hour. Though there isn’t any snow yet, our temperature is still quite chilly. Please ensure that students are dressed for the weather with a warm jacket, mitts, toque and snowpants.
Safety
When dropping your student off, and picking them up, please use the crosswalk. We cannot ensure the safety of everyone when people are jay-walking to get to school. The area in front of the school is very busy and proper use of the crosswalk, ensures that all pedestrians are visible.
Please also do not cut through the parking lot at any time. This is also a busy space with cars backing up and limited space to do so. Drivers do not expect to have pedestrians crossing through this area and this poses a safety risk. Please ensure you are always walking around the perimeter of the school and not through the parking lot.
School Fees
Please log in to your MyCBE/Powerschool portal to see the school fees that are due.
Student Supply Fee – this is $20 for kindergarten students and $40 for grade 1-6 students and covers the cost of school supplies. This fee is a central fee and was activated for all students in October.
Lunch Supervision Fee – if your child stays at school for lunch, then they are attending the lunch program and need to be registered in it. Thank you to all families who completed the registration in their portal. Based on attendance in the program, the school has now registered all remaining students and you should see the fees on your account in December.
Waivers – if you need to apply for a waiver for financial reasons, please check the CBE Fees and Waivers webpage. This page can be translated using the icon in the top right corner. Waivers need to be completed yearly. Please contact the school office if you have any questions.
