Dear Parents and Guardians,We were so thankful for the warmer weather this week so we could play outside in the sunshine! Please send your child appropriate outdoor clothing: snow pants, snow boots, hat, gloves/mitts, warm jacket. The students go outside for morning recess and lunch recess and only stay inside if the temperature is below –20C with windchill. WRITE THEIR NAME ON THE TAG – things get easily mixed up in the hallway. Also please have indoor shoes for your child and that this is a pair that stays at school. It is neither safe, nor comfortable for students to wear their heavy boots or socks only the whole day school. We have a limited amount of “loaner” indoor shoes and outdoor clothing available for emergencies. If your child brings loaner shoes home, please return them to the school so we can keep helping our students. It is important to practice good habits this time of the year, especially when illness happens more often. Alberta Health Services (AHS) reminds us to perform frequent hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette. Encourage frequent hand washing and/or use of alcohol-based hand rub. Promote respiratory etiquette to cover your cough, and support those who choose to wear a mask. With respiratory illness AHS suggests that you stay home until all symptoms have improved, you are feeling well enough to resume normal activities, and you are fever-free for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medications. Refer to COVID-19 Information for Albertans. For Gastral-Intestinal illness AHS suggests you stay home until 48 hours after the last episode of vomiting and/or diarrhea. For rash and other illnesses AHS suggests that you stay home for the length of time recommended by a physician, nurse practitioner or the AHS Public Health Outbreak team.
