Dear Parents and Guardians,

Please take a moment to look through our ever-growing collection of items that have been left behind. Our lost and found has been spread out on tables in our main hallway to encourage both students and parents to look for any items that may be missing.

Enjoy your weekend and we look forward to welcoming students back on Monday!

Staffing Updates:

As the school year winds down, a shift begins. It’s a time for reflection on lessons learned, friendships formed, and challenges overcome. Students and teachers alike pause to celebrate growth and consider what lies ahead. This season of transition invites change: a chance to reset goals, embrace new opportunities, and carry forward the wisdom of the past year. There is space to dream, to plan, and to prepare for the next chapter with renewed purpose and hope.

James MacDonald will be retiring at the end of June, concluding a distinguished and impactful career with the Calgary Board of Education. Throughout his tenure, he has demonstrated unwavering dedication to student success and educational excellence. As he transitions into retirement, Mr. MacDonald looks forward to embracing new adventures—whether that means enjoying well-deserved rest, exploring new destinations, or pursuing personal passions. His contributions have left a lasting legacy, and he departs with the deep appreciation and best wishes of the entire school community.

Eric Lee has accepted a new position at Prairie Sky School, marking an exciting step forward in his professional journey. This opportunity will allow him to further develop his skills, expand his experience, and continue contributing meaningfully to the field of education. We extend our congratulations and best wishes as he embarks on this new chapter of growth and learning.

Taya Seelhof has accepted a position as a Library Assistant at University Elementary School. This new role represents an exciting opportunity for her to apply her skills in a dynamic educational environment while continuing to support student learning and literacy. We extend our congratulations and look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make in her new position.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Angela Louie and Dana Derkat for their dedicated years of service at Mount View as English Additional Language Assistants. Their unwavering support has been instrumental in fostering the growth and development of our students.

We are sincerely grateful for the valuable support Lila Schoenthal and Alexandra Fallis have provided to Mount View School. As their contracts come to a close, we thank them for their contributions and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

As they all move on to new roles next year, we wish them continued success and fulfillment in their future endeavors. They will all be greatly missed by both staff and students.

We are excited to welcome Alicia Hutton as the new Learning Leader at Mount View School this August. Please join us in warmly welcoming her!

We are also excited to welcome Lindsay Connick to our team as an EAL Assistant! Her enthusiasm and dedication to supporting English language learners will be a wonderful asset. Message from School Council

CANCELLED:  Protecting our Children in the Digital Age

This just isn't our year!  Unfortunately the presenter just cancelled on us.

We'll try again next year.

Last School Council Meeting had to be Cancelled — No Chair in Place

Step Up. Be the Voice Our School Needs.

Don’t wait for someone else. Be the one who makes a difference.

When no one steps up, momentum is lost. Voices go unheard. Opportunities for improvement slip away. When we assume “someone else will do it,” we risk letting our school’s potential fade into silence.

By stepping into this role, you’ll help guide priorities, support initiatives that strengthen learning and wellbeing, and be a crucial link between parents, educators, and school leadership.

You don’t need to be an expert — you just need to care. If you’re someone who values education, and wants to see our school thrive, you’re exactly who we need.

It’s a small commitment (~1hr/week) and an opportunity to lead with purpose, to connect with others, and to help build a school community we can all be proud of.

Your voice matters. Your leadership matters.
Be the one who steps up.
