Dear Parents and Guardians,
Reminder for Families - there is no school tomorrow.
Please also remember to pack recess and lunch food separately for school days:
Recess snack:
Please pack a large recess snack. Our recess is at 10:30 a.m., which is about 3 hours after breakfast for most children, so they are often quite hungry by then.
Lunch:
Keep lunch packed separately from the recess snack to help students manage their food independently.
Fridays:
Please pack a large snack on Fridays. There is no official lunch period on Fridays, though many teachers offer two snack times.
Alien In-Line – February
Alien in Line is coming to Mount View School! The program days are February 2-6th. Your child will have 3 classes of in-line skating in the gym (see schedule). This program is generously supported by our parent council.
Volunteers
Parent Volunteers can assist younger classes with putting on and taking off skates and pads. If you would like to volunteer please make sure you have a current volunteer clearance and email Ms. Burger (hmburger@cbe.ab.ca). Please see the schedule below to see when your child is skating.
Helmets & socks
Please bring their own helmet (with a safety certification sticker attached e.g., CSA, CPSC, etc.) if you have one. Acceptable helmets include: bicycle helmets, hockey helmets (no cage), skateboard helmets, ski/snowboard helmets.
The following helmets are not appropriate for inline skating: BMX helmets, baseball helmets, football helmets, equestrian helmets, motorcycle helmets, any helmet with no chin strap, any helmet that covers the face, any helmet missing its outer plastic shell.
Alien In-Line will provide a set of 40 helmets with assorted sizes from XS – XL to supplement the helmets that students bring from home.
All participants to wear socks. Due to health reasons, students without socks will not be permitted to participate. We recommend suggesting that students bring an extra pair of socks to help keep the equipment dry and for the participant’s personal comfort.
Donation to Mount View School
If you would like to make a direct donation to support Mount View School please go through Education Matters. Currently we are running a campaign to support our LEAD students participating in fieldtrips with their Community Classrooms. We aim to raise $3000 to support students by removing financial barriers to meaningful outdoor learning. Many families face challenges providing winter clothing or covering field‑trip costs, which can limit participation in valuable experiences. Funds raised will ensure every student can join our outdoor adventures—exploring nature, building leadership skills, and strengthening community—fully equipped, warm, and included. All donations, with Education Matters, over $20 are eligible for a tax receipt. Also, some corporate companies will donation match – remember to ask your workplace if this is possible.
